On this page I just wanted to give you a very brief explanation of why lampwork beads are so special and how they are actually made.

Basically lampwork/lampworking is pretty much a roundabout description of how the beads are made.They are individually made over a blowtorch(lamp)on mandrels(rods of metal) and some considerable skill is needed to perfect the end result.Obviously some are better quality than others which can make them very expensive.The ones I use are good quality and fun in design and because they are made individually no two are the same.They can vary slightly in size colour and shape and each one can have different expressions.That's why I love using them in some of my work,they make unique pieces and have that handmade/hand crafted finish.                                                                         lampwork toad stoollampwork ladybirdlampwwork penguinlampwork bumble bee                                                     lampwork snowman
